Briefings

A written report sent several times a month covering Inferential Focus observations about a consumer, economic, technological or political shift.

Meetings

Senior Partners meet quarterly with clients to address in more depth the implications of changes we are detecting for their business. One of these meetings is a Decision Forum.

Ongoing Consultation

The relationship Inferential Focus develops with our clients is an on-going one designed to respond throughout the year to client questions, review the monthly briefings in more detail, or follow-up on earlier discussions. We are always available by telephone for client consultations and consider this an important part of our service delivery.

Decision Forum is a full day session focused on applying our intelligence to define specific opportunities for our client’s business. Expected outcomes include helping clients to adjust strategic plans, develop new products, plan advertising or organize marketing strategies. Decision Forum progresses through three stages of work with the client team:

Discovery

We review the latest intelligence and key dynamics we have detected and focus on the dynamic most relevant to the client.

Experimentation

Client teams define implications of the dynamic for their customers, products and messages. We generate ideas to capitalize on implications.

Decision Trials

Clients choose 1-2 opportunities to develop, and create a first-draft action plan.

Portfolio Review

We offer a portfolio review service in which we highlight the potential risks and opportunities of any part of a client’s investment portfolio. We can illustrate how each investment may be affected positively and negatively by ongoing dynamics we have identified. We can then help clients to reweight a portfolio to take advantage of potential upside waves and maximize shorts against imminent risks.

Due Diligence

We also offer a Due Diligence service to private equity clients looking to make a new investment. We can assess the market situation for that company based on the intelligence we have that could affect the potential of the acquisition target.

Inferential Focus’ core Change Detection service relies on methods of inductive reasoning. We notice changes and anomalies going on in the world and put these parts together to arrive at a whole: a new dynamic that has not yet been generally recognized. This allows our clients to react to change before the competition is even aware a change has occurred.

Pushing our methods further, we also offer Implications Services that employ deductive reasoning: using a recently discovered dynamic to infer what will happen in various related industries and sectors, political movements, technological advances, or social and behavioral adjustments. This allows our clients to anticipate change in market activity rather than to simply react to it.

Products that we develop as part of our implications services include charts, mind maps, and wave graphs that outline the potential risks and rewards caused by a new dynamic. We also identify companies that will benefit or suffer from the identified change.
